Fight of the Century: Parker v Fa fight online on December 12

Here we go again says Sideline Sid. The (latest) "Fight of the Century" is to take place in Auckland Spark Arena on December 11, with the event promoter in full cry.

Don't get me wrong, Parker Fa live stream is a big fight and eagerly looked forward to by the multitude of the countries boxing fans.

However, the same promoter gave the David Tua fight with Shane Cameron the same tag of "Fight of the Century" in 2010.

He's got to be kidding with his claims that the Parker contest with Fa is a bigger attraction than David Tua's demolition of Shane Cameron.

Maybe what he means is that this years showdown is the "Fight of the 21st Century".

Hype and hyperbole sells seats and PPV sales, which gives promoters license to make all sorts of claims.

The official Tua v Cameron fight program said "It's finally here - New Zealand's Fight of the Century, the much hyped and truly epic sporting event of the year. Headlined by the two greats of our time in David Tua and Shane Cameron.

"The elder statesman of NZ boxing in Tua, back in the ring after a two year layoff, against the current top gun Cameron. Could it get any better, as far as main events go, probably not”?

Who can forget the dramatic action, with both boxers going head-to-head in the opening round, before David Tua delivered the knockout blows just 20 seconds into the second stanza.

The Spark Arena showdown is a different kettle of fish to the Tua v Cameron contest.

Much is being made of the four bouts between Parker and Fa in the amateur ranks, where the final tally was two wins apiece.

Amateur boxing is primarily about scoring points, with the similarity with the professional code about as close as rugby is with American football, where the only common denominator is an oval ball.

History tells us that the first genuine Super Heavyweight fight to be held in New Zealand, took place at the Palmerston North Showgrounds nearly eight years ago.

On Boxing Day in 1940, Kiwi Morris Strickland was paid a New Zealand record purse of the day of 550 pounds, to square off with the Alabama Kid from the USA.

The American was no slug in the ring, having beaten ex-World Middleweight champion Gorilla Jones and fought a draw with John Henry Lewis, who held the World Light Heavyweight crown for a time.

While Strickland won the fight on points, Sideline Sid almost fell off his chair when he looked at the Alabama Kids final tally of fights on Box Rec - 206 wins, 69 losses and 23 draws.

Back to the Parker verses Fa fight. Joseph Parker's record would suggest that he should win the encounter, however, this a heavyweight battle where no quarter will be asked for or given, with a Junior Fa victory no great surprise.

Gazing into the crystal ball of the future, Sideline Sid believes the fight will go the distance, with Joseph Parker getting the judges nod.

Kiwi heavyweight boxers Joseph Parker vs Junior Fa Fight on Saturday December 12 at Auckland's Spark Arena.

Parker v Fa Kiwi heavyweight boxers Joseph Parker and Junior Fa will have to wait slightly longer than expected to square off after their upcoming bout was pushed back. Initially scheduled to be held on Friday December 11, the Stonewood Homes-sponsored 12-round clash will now take place on Saturday December 12 at Auckland's Spark Arena. The fight was originally scheduled as a Friday night affair due to the possibility of clashing with an All Blacks game on the Saturday. However, with the All Blacks schedule recently confirmed and the team playing their final game of the Tri-Nations in late November, the decision was made to move Fight of the Century back a night. The fight being held on the Saturday night increases accessibility for fans who are hoping to get along to the historic bout - with the weekend date providing more opportunity for those travelling from outside of Auckland to get to the event. While allowing for better access for Kiwis, holding the fight on a Saturday also ensures the event maximises its potential for international viewers, with the event now reaching markets like UK and Europe on a Saturday morning. Those who have tickets but can no longer attend the event due to the change in date will be able to get a refund. "As a non-working day for many, Saturday provides the best opportunity for more people to attend the event, especially those travelling to Auckland from all around the country," Duco Events director David Higgins said. Kiwi fight fans planning to watch on television at home would also have more time on the Saturday to download the Spark Sport app and order the Parker v Fa fight pay-per-view if they hadn't already done so.

When is the Horn vs Tszyu fight?

you’re in the right place to see all the boxing with a Tszyu Horn live stream – no matter where in the world you are. Australian boxing has its next big domestic showdown Jeff Horn and Tim Tszyu were scheduled to fight on Wednesday, April 22 in a hugely anticipated super welterweight showdown

Horn (20-2-1, 13 KO) has become Australia’s biggest boxing star since his controversial win over Manny Pacquiao in 2017, though things haven’t exactly gone swimmingly since that night in Brisbane, where he earned the WBO welterweight title.
Tszyu (15-0, 11 KO) is the name of a young man growing up in his own country. The 25-year-old son-in-law of Hall of Famer Costa Tszyu was supported on December, and has shown this part so far, with strong wins in 2019 such as Denton Vassell, Joel Camilleri, Dwight Ritchie and Jack Brubaker.
Horn, a domestic boxing hero, is probably best know worldwide for his controversial points win over Manny Pacquiao back in 2017 which saw him unseat the then WBO welterweight champ. Having lost his title to Terence Crawford a year later, Horn has since moved to middleweight, and will have his eye on a late December title fight with WBA middleweight champion Ryoto Murata in Japan that has been agreed in principle. Horn vs Tszyu live

Alex Leapai vs Joseph Parker
It’s an unusual choice of opponent for Parker (25-2, 19 KOs), because he’s still considered one of the top tier heavyweights in the division. For his Parker’s new promoters to put him in with an old unranked heavyweight like Leapai, it kind of makes you wonder whether they’re going to take a couple of years to try and rebuild him. Parker lost to Dillian Whyte and Anthony Joshua in consecutive fights that took place in the UK in 2017 and 2018 respectively.
Since Parker’s loss to Whyte in 2018, he came back to defeat little known heavyweight Alexander Flores (17-2-1, 15 KOs) by a third round knockout last December. Leapai is arguably a step down from Flores. It’s anyone’s guess whether Matchroom Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn is going to take a year or two to rebuild the 27-year-old Parker before putting him in with Whyte or Joshua in a rematch.

The Kiwi fights for the first time under the Matchroom Boxing USA banner and national pride will be at stake as he meets Leapai (32-7-4 26 KOs). Live stream Alex Leapai vs Joseph Parker from outside your country

If you’ve been looking forward to this Leapai vs Parker fight and already know where to watch, your plans may be scuppered if you’re out of the country when it’s on. That’s because broadcasters geo-block their coverage if you try to watch from abroad.
But there’s a clever workaround for this, which is perfectly legal (assuming the broadcaster’s Ts&Cs allow it) and it involves using a piece of software called a VPN – better that than trying to get some dodgy stream from Reddit.

The Samoan-Australian, who spent part of his childhood in New Zealand, boxes in America for the first time in a lengthy career that saw him challenge Wladimir Klitschko for his World titles in April 2014.
Parker’s ultimate goal is to regain his status as World champion and the former WBO ruler believes he will shine on July 29, but Leapai is hoping to pull off a shock in the style of newly crowned World champion Andy Ruiz Jr, who dethroned Parker’s old foe Anthony Joshua in the last Heavyweight action on DAZN.
Parker’s clash with Leapai is part of a blockbuster night of World championship action in Rhode Island as unbeaten hometown favourite Demetrius Andrade defends his WBO Middleweight strap against Poland’s Maciej Sulecki, unbeaten Briton Kal Yafai puts his WBA Super-Flyweight title against mandatory challenger Norbelto Jimenez.
Boston’s Mark DeLuca faces Canadian Brandon Brewer over ten rounds at Super-Welterweight, young talents Alexis Espino and Raymond Ford taste their third action in the paid ranks, local favorite Anthony Marsella faces Jose Aubel, with another unbeaten Providence fighter Anthony Concepcion also featuring.

Parker (25-2 19 KOs) returned to winning ways at home in Christchurch, New Zealand in December with a third round stoppage following two blockbuster nights in Britain. The Kiwi first took on Anthony Joshua in a unification battle in Cardiff in March 2018, surrendering his WBO crown on points. Parker then returned to the UK and met Joshua’s old foe Dillian Whyte and served up a fight of the year contender in London in July, climbing off the canvas in the second and ninth rounds to floor Whyte in the final session, but being edged out on the cards.

Matchroom recently signed Parker
Parker landed the vacant WBO title against Andy Ruiz Jr, whose recent stunning win over Joshua in New York has thrown the division wide open. The Kiwi was in the Big Apple that weekend after signing a promotional deal with Matchroom Boxing USA and Eddie Hearn, and the 27 year old had warned that the Mexican was a real threat to the unbeaten Briton’s World reign.

Leapai is a replacement opponent after American Eric Molina pulled out amidst a dispute over fight terms.
The Lauli’i born 39 year old boxer, who is fighting out of Australia, has won 32 of his 43 fights, 25 by knockout.

Joseph Parker was a long way off being born when Don King was making and busting some of the biggest heavyweight fights in boxing history.
But even at 87, the controversial American figure still has plenty of influence on the heavyweight scene as Parker and his manager – and former promoter – David Higgins has found out.
Two weeks out from Parker’s return to the ring in the US on June 30 (NZT), the former WBO world heavyweight champion is yet to nail down an opponent following some “trouble behind the scenes” in negotiations with scheduled opponent American Eric Molina (27-5).
